Located south of Mesa and west of Gilbert, the city of Chandler was founded in 1912 as a farming community. Today, more than 100 different subdivisions populate Chandler, such as Arizona Country, San Marcos, Ray Ranch, Pecos Ranch, and Monterey Point. One such subdivision, Pennington Place Community, features Arizona ranch and Santa Barbara-style homes, an average of 2,000 square feet. Another popular neighborhood, Clemente Ranch, showcases one and two-story homes, up to 4.500 square feet in size. There are several townhome and condominium options in Chandler as well, such as Cantabria Shores, Arcadia Village, and Lemon Tree Community.

Fitness and outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy popular parks such as Tumbleweed Park and Desert Breeze Park, as well as the Koli Equestrian Center and the Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center. Golf options in Chandler include the Ironwood Golf Club, Bear Creek Golf Complex, Ocotillo Golf Resort, the Sunbird Golf Club, and the San Marcos Golf Resort.
 
Chandler hosts several events such as a Chihuahua race during Cinco de Mayo, the Ostrich Festival, the Tumbleweed Tree Lighting Ceremony during the holidays, and the Chandler Artwalk Chandler is also home to Rawhide Western Town, a Western-themed attraction featuring live shows, restaurants, and shopping. Other shopping options include the popular Chandler Fashion Center and Chandler Pavilions. The Shoppes at Casa Paloma, and the Phoenix Premium Outlets. Chandler is 17 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, but also features its own municipal airport.
