Between Nov. 4 and Dec. 5, Fountain Hills has six confirmed public events on its calendar. Five of them are on Avenue of the Fountains or Fountain Park, and the sixth uses the Avenue and Saguaro districts that meet beside it. For about a month, the town's whole public season fits into a walk of a few blocks.
That matters for planning this year more than most. The project that drew the most attention in 2026, the International Dark Sky Discovery Center on La Montana Drive, now shows "Opening Early 2027" at the top of its own website, in an update dated Sept. 30. Experience Fountain Hills gives an expected opening of January 2027. This fall doesn't include it, so the season goes back to where it has always been, the Avenue and the park around the fountain.
October still happens elsewhere
Before November, the calendar is spread around town. The Town's Oktoberfest took place Oct. 2 and 3 under the Centennial Pavilion at the Community Center, 13001 N. La Montana Drive, according to the Fountain Hills Times.
Two October events are still ahead:
- Spooky Blast, Saturday, Oct. 24, 5 to 8 p.m. at Desert Vista Park, with candy, inflatables, a DJ, magic shows, costume contests and trick-or-treat booths, per the Fountain Hills Times.
- A murder-mystery dinner at All Natural Wine and Olive Oils, 11803 N. Saguaro Blvd., Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., as the Fountain Hills Times reported.
A week after that dinner, everything moves to the Avenue and stays there.
Wednesdays come first
The weekly event starts first and keeps going longest. The Fountain Hills Farmers Market opens Wednesday, Nov. 4, and runs every Wednesday through April 28, 2027, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It sets up at 16831 E. Avenue of the Fountains, across from Fountain Park.
The operator lists 55 to 60 food vendors plus a few health and wellness booths, and says it works with more than 60 vendors in all, including five food trucks. Its featured vendors include:
- Noble Bread, an artisan bakery from Phoenix. The market suggests preordering by text or call to Betsy by Monday noon for Wednesday pickup at 480-227-6113.
- Buenos Aires Empanadas, Argentinean-style, in five or six meat flavors plus a veggie option.
- The Tamale Store, with half-pound tamales sold hot or frozen, all gluten free, including vegan options.
- Wiki-licious Donuts, which sells Hawaiian malasadas by the single or the dozen.
- Black Orchard Farms, with organically grown produce, seeds, herbs and rubs, plus raw milk and fresh eggs every week.
The market is the reason the Avenue stays busy between the big events. Three days after Halloween weekend, it starts filling the street on a weekday, every week. It also has its own Thanksgiving date, covered below.
The festival weekend fills both districts
Nine days after the market opens, the Fall Fountain Festival of Fine Arts & Crafts spreads past the Avenue into the Saguaro District. Per Experience Fountain Hills, it runs Friday, Nov. 13, and Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parking and entry are free, and the event is listed as family-friendly and dog-friendly.
The organizers describe it as a twice-yearly tradition with more than 500 artists, and they call it one of the largest arts and crafts fairs in the Southwest. The other edition is in February. The Chamber's general festival page still shows last year's dates, so the 2026 event listing above is the one to use.
The festival is the one weekend this season that extends past the Avenue. It runs Friday through Sunday, so the Wednesday market that week isn't affected.
Thanksgiving week, hour by hour
The schedule gets tightest at Thanksgiving. Three events use the same stretch of street within about 24 hours.
- Wednesday, Nov. 25, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: The farmers market hosts a special event with the nonprofit Kids Market group on the day before Thanksgiving.
- Thursday, Nov. 26, 7:15 a.m.: The 36th Annual Turkey Trot starts on Avenue of the Fountains, with a timed 5K run and a 1.5-mile Fitness Walk. Both go around Fountain Park and the fountain.
- Thursday, Nov. 26, 9:30 a.m.: The Thanksgiving Day Parade goes down the same Avenue.
The Trot needs advance planning. The Town of Fountain Hills says pre-registration is required and there's no on-site registration on race day. Registration is at FHTurkeyTrot.com.
The Trot has a fundraiser built in. Mayor Gerry M. Friedel is bringing back the Mayor's Challenge, donating $1 to charity for every runner who finishes faster than he does. The Town says last year's challenge raised more than $12,000 for Extended Hands Food Bank once local businesses added matching pledges. "The Turkey Trot is about much more than the race," Senior Recreation Program Coordinator Skylar Thomas said in the Town's announcement. "It is a chance for friends, families and visitors to start Thanksgiving with some fun and fresh air."
The parade starts two hours and fifteen minutes after the Trot. In 2026 it's themed around America's 250th birthday, with marching bands, historic tributes and floats, and it ends with Santa Claus. Experience Fountain Hills counts this as the parade's 42nd year. A runner who finishes the 5K can stay on the Avenue for the parade without driving anywhere.
Stroll in the Glow closes the run
The last big event is Saturday, Dec. 5. Stroll in the Glow runs from 5 to 8 p.m. The "lighting of the Avenue," including the official Town of Fountain Hills Christmas tree, is scheduled for around 5:45 p.m.
Santa is due to arrive on a fire truck before 6 p.m., with free photos provided by the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce. From 6 to 8 p.m., the Balloon Glow has hot air balloons lit up at Fountain Park, at the far end of the walk. The listing names a Live Nativity and a Letters to Santa station as past favorites but doesn't confirm them for this year.
The Stroll is the end of the season the same way the Trot is its busiest point. It starts on the Avenue and finishes at the park.

Two newer stops to fit around the calendar
One of the town's newer storefronts is right on the Avenue. Good Living Greens has reopened after moving to a larger space at 16845 E. Avenue of the Fountains, Suite D104. The Town of Fountain Hills says the new shop is nearly 3,000 square feet and is open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The shop is on the same stretch of the Avenue as the market's address, so a Wednesday morning can include both.
The other is on Shea Boulevard. Trilogy Restaurant, a seafood restaurant at Eagle Mountain, 14815 E. Shea Blvd., was set to open Aug. 20, according to the Fountain Hills Times. The Times reported that the name refers to food, wine and culture, the three things chef partner Richard E. Pelz and partner, sommelier and general manager Dennis Payne built it around. It serves seafood from around the world with a view to match. It's now taking reservations through OpenTable. It's a drive from the Avenue, which makes it an easy dinner after the festival or the Stroll for anyone who doesn't want to eat near the crowds.
Both places fit the season. One is a few steps from the Avenue events, and the other is out of the downtown crowds, ready for a sit-down dinner afterward.
