Located south of Mesa and west of Gilbert, the city of Chandler was founded in 1912 as a farming community. Today, more than 100 different subdivisions populate Chandler, such as Arizona Country, San Marcos, Ray Ranch, Pecos Ranch, and Monterey Point. One such subdivision, Pennington Place Community, features Arizona ranch and Santa Barbara style homes, and average 2,000 square feet. Another popular neighborhood, Clemente Ranch, showcases one and two-story homes, up to 4,500 square feet in size. There are several townhome and condominium options in Chandler as well, such as Cantabria Shores, Arcadia Village, and Lemon Tree Community.

Chandler is also home to Rawhide Western Town, a Western-themed attraction featuring live shows, restaurants and shopping. Other shopping options include the popular Chandler Fashion Center, Chandler Pavilions, The Shoppes at Casa Paloma, and the Phoenix Premium Outlets.
Chandler is 17 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, but also features its own municipal airport. Chandler is served primarily by the A rated Chandler Unified School District.
