Those who reside here in the Valley of the Sun know that summer isn’t really over until October or maybe even November. The most popular water parks here in Phoenix recognize that fact and are keeping their doors open until mid-September and even until October. Here are the details to help you stay cool in these continued triple-digit hot days . . .
Located in the North Valley, Wet N Wild is a sprawling oasis of slides, wave pools, lazy rivers and splash pads. With over 13 attractions, every member of the family is sure to find a fun way to stay cool. The Maximum Velocity Dueling H2O Coaster features side-by-side water slides with more than 830 feet of drops and curves. In three sections, riders are actually blasted by water uphill. Another fun slide is the Constrictor, which is a multi-person corkscrew flume ride with tight turns. Young children will enjoy the Soak ‘Em Playground which is a giant play structure with sprinklers, water spouts and mushroom showers. The park is open until October 16th.
Big Surf in Mesa is known for its 2.5 million-gallon Waikiki Beach Wave Pool, the third largest in the world. Big Surf also has an area for smaller tots, as well as seven different sets of slides for the thrill seekers in your group. From the Tornado Twisters and the Hurricane Slides to the Black Hole and the White Serpentine, there’s a slide for those in search of an adrenaline fix. The younger set will enjoy Captain Cook’s Landing where they can play on giant sea creatures and animals. This park is open until September 11th, and will reopen the last week of May in 2017.
Finally, Golfland-Sunsplash in Mesa, is a combination water park and amusement park, with several water attractions such as slides, a wave pool, lazy river and splash zones. The seven-story Revolution is a slide that will propel riders straight down into a giant cauldron, while the Master Blaster Water Coaster and the seven-story Thunder Falls are equally exciting water rides. The 450,000-gallon Thunder Bay Wave Pool is fun for everyone, as is the 800-foot Endless River which is a more leisurely way to enjoy the water. Little ones will enjoy the Activity Pool and the Toddler Tadpole Pool, for age 7 and younger. Visitors can also enjoy a giant video game arcade, bumper boats, laser tag and little Indy cars at the attached Golfland. Sunsplash is open until September 17th.
